Philanthropic Foundation

Established in 2015 as a charitable successor to the CSUDH Foundation (now known as Toro Auxiliary Partners), the California State University, Dominguez Hills Philanthropic Foundation is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation that exists to advance the goals and mission of CSUDH by raising and managing private funds on the university’s behalf.

Ensuring access to a high-quality public university education for qualified students from families with limited financial means is central to the Foundation’s mission. At CSUDH, more than 65% of students are Pell eligible, meaning they come from families earning less than $30,000 a year. In the CSU system of 23 campuses, this percentage is among the highest.

To meet this need, the Philanthropic Foundation and the Division of University Advancement partner in raising funds to support the mission of CSUDH. Virtually all donors restrict their gifts to benefit their specific areas of interest (scholarship funds, academic or student affairs programs, and others). Philanthropy that supports CSUDH’s programs and builds its endowment has never been more important given the recent decline in state funding for public higher education.

The Philanthropic Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors, whose members serve as advisors to the president and play a significant role in the development of the university as a major educational, cultural and economic resource for the South Bay region. Members of the Foundation board of directors (some of whom are also alumni) are among the university’s most extraordinary partners and supporters, tasked with providing advice and counsel to President Dr. Thomas A. Parham, broadening engagement of external partners, and creating a culture of philanthropy for the university. Leaders in business, the professions and civic affairs, they give their time and talents to guide the Foundation’s operations and support the university’s strategic vision for the future. The Philanthropic Foundation is independently audited according to auditing standards generally accepted in the United States of America ("GAAS") and the standards applicable to financial audits contained in Government Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller General of the United States.

CSUDH would not be the university it is today without its exceptional partnership with the Philanthropic Foundation and with the generous foundations, corporations, and individuals who have invested in Dominguez Hills students, faculty, and our future.
