“I think for any single parent that is pursuing their academic dream, I would say the hardest thing besides finances is the time away from my daughter. The burgundy & gold scholarship has really alleviated a lot of financial stress, and I no longer have to work seven days a week, so I have more time to be with my daughter which is important for me and it's important for her development. "I would like to thank the donors for the opportunity to receive this scholarship. It means so much to me. It's really helping me this year especially as I have been a student worker on campus for the past two years and that means that I've had my tuition covered because of that. This is the first year that I have to pay my tuition on my own, so the scholarship is helping me to cover a significant portion of the costs. After I graduate, I plan to give back to my community as a counselor, and this scholarship gets me much closer to this goal."
